Our New Community Partner

This week (19-25 June) is National Volunteer Week, making it the perfect time to announce our new community partner, Eat My Lunch.

Eat My Lunch is a social enterprise that is making a huge difference in the lives of Kiwi kids, by ensuring that no-one goes hungry at school. When you purchase your lunch, platter or gift box from Eat My Lunch, they give a lunch to a kiwi kid in need. Since 2015 they have given over 1.7 million lunches through their Buy One Give One programme!

How does it work?

The Eat My Lunch team design, make and deliver lunches to their paying customers. They rely on volunteers to help prepare the lunches that are given to kids in need. Organisations can volunteer to help make sandwiches in the Eat My Lunch kitchen in Newton – and it all happens early in the morning, before regular office hours.

‘We started out wanting to alleviate a nationwide issue by creating change through something as routine as a lunch. Now from our heart-warming response it’s official – Kiwis really do love to help out!’ –  Kellie Burbidge – General Manager

Volunteer opportunities

If waking up before the sun rises is not really your thing, you can still help by delivering the lunches to local schools.

‘Volunteers have a great experience, and they feel really good about the work they do, when confronted by the volume of sandwiches they see being made. It is really rewarding’ says Lisa Evans, – Marketing and Communications – Eat My Lunch.

Of course, simply by buying your lunch or corporate catering from Eat my Lunch, you’re making a difference. With a healthy and nutritious lunch in their tummies kids can concentrate better, feel better, be more confident and they love learning and are able to thrive at school.

Great choice and a great cause

There is more on offer from Eat My Lunch than simply nutritious lunches. The range has grown over the past 12 months and now includes fresh healthy breakfasts, salad options, grazing platters, gift boxes and afternoon/morning teas. These additions have proved extremely popular and now with more people returning to their offices at Harbour Grounds, corporate catering will make training days, breakfast meetings, work shouts and corporate gifting easy to organise. The new offering also caters for a wider range of dietary options too, so they can easily accommodate any vegan, gluten free, or dairy friendly requirements.
